“Twosday” — February 22, 2022 — happens only once in a lifetime, so Hsi Lai Senior Activity Program chose this special day to launch a new semester with close to fifty students and advisors participating online.
Students gathered, greeted each other warmly, happily read, performed exercises, and sang with open hearts. They practiced Ten Hand Movements under the leadership of teacher Xiaolian Cao. Advisors Jianhua Wang and Qishun Cao led the group in a discussion of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s article, “The Best Fit”, from the book, Between Ignorance and Enlightenment. South Bay members, Yuqing Lin-Li and Yanyun Su, shared their views after reading the article. Advisor Yimei Chen recounted the importance of finding the right price while grocery shopping. What’s the right price? What’s too much? These interesting topics ignited energetic discussions. Students Ruiju Huang, Wenzhen Zhuang-Li, Advisor Weigang Hu, and others shared their personal shopping experiences.
The abbot of Hsi Lai temple, Venerable Hui Dong, opened the new semester celebration and activities by sharing Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s 2022 Blessing: “May All Beings Live Without Fear and Coexist in Peace”. Ven. Hui Dong wished everyone the ability to face afflictions with bravery, to manage business with wisdom and compassion, to be patient and keep a peaceful and harmonious mind despite external variables, and to coexist in peace with people and country.
Hsi Lai Senior Activity Program of Fo Guang Shan Hsi Lai Temple started school February 22nd and will end on May 10th. All courses are online.
