BLIA Long Beach subchapter organized a coastal cleanup event on Sept 18. It was the first coastal cleanup event since the pandemic and cordially welcomed by all LA subchapters. A total of 9 subchapters with nearly 70 members participated.
The participants gathered at the Belmont Veterans Memorial pier in Long Beach City in the morning. The advising venerable of the Long Beach Subchapter, Venerable Hui Ze, said that Fo Guang people not just clean up the beach, but also purify their minds through action.
After nearly an hour of inch-by-inch searching, more than 10 bags of plastic, cigarette butts and other garbage were collected, contributing to protecting the marine ecological environment.
