The Deputy Chair of BLIA LA Chapter Elder Advisors Committee, Ms. Gena Ooi, received the Outstanding Asian American Award on June 4 during the Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebrations. The U.S. Representative Young Kim (CA-39) initiated the event and hosted the online award ceremony for 16 outstanding Asian American honorees. Mr. Kenny Chang, BLIA LA Chapter Supervisor, was among the honorees.
May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebrated in the United States. It pays attributes to the Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans who contributed dearly to the history, culture and achievements of the nation. Honorees call upon the community to jointly and positively respond to the hate crime amid the pandemic to nurture a harmonious society.
