"Rising Stars Music Festival" Buddha’s Light Youth Symphony Orchestra online music competition was held on May 17, Dr Robert Sage and Dr Christine Song were invited as judges, a total of 22 participants, divided into 4 groups for the competition.
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the United States, for safety purpose, the BLYSO transformed the 2020 music competition into an online competition. Participants used instruments such as saxophone, flute, violin, cello, piano, French horn to play famous songs of Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Liszt Ferenc, Rachmaninoff and other musicians.
In the first group of competitions, 9-year-old Catherine Chen and 11-year-old Samantha Wu won the favor of two judges and became the first group champion.A total of 8 contestants in the second group, Kate Dinh Lam who played the 20th century great composer and pianist Rachmaninoff's track "Prelude Op" won the prize with his precise skills and rhythm.In the last group, Emily Chen won the championship who played Franz Liszt's "Hungarian Rhapsody No. 12" on the piano.
Both judges praised the students for their efforts and believed that as long as they continue to work hard, they will be able to take music to a higher level in time.
