Sutra Studies

“The Great Perfection of Wisdom Treatise”, explains the contents of the Prajnaparamita Sutras. It was written in Sanskrit by Nagarjuna in India around the third century. It was later translated into Chinese by Kumarajiva during the Later Qin Dynasty in Chang'an, China in 402 CE. It was believed that the original Treatise has 100,000 verses, that have been translated into Chinese by Kumarajiva into 100 fascicles.

In addition to the very systematic explanation of the contents of "Prajnaparamita Sutra", it also quotes other Scriptures, Vinaya, and uses vivid story and metaphors to explain the profound teachings. It has rich information in literature and practice.

Therefore, it is also known as the "Buddhist Encyclopedia" and has become an important text for the study of Mahayana Buddhism and the ancient Indian culture. As it has 100 fascicles, in addition to the introduction, we will focus in the first 10 fascicles for further sharing and discussion.

This is a very worth reading Treatise. We welcome everyone to join us to get to know it.
